One of the most common questions we receive at Binbin Massage is: "Should I book a Swedish massage or a deep tissue massage?" Both modalities offer tremendous benefits, but they work in different ways and are suited to different needs.

What Is Swedish Massage?

Swedish massage uses long, flowing strokes, gentle kneading, and circular movements at light to moderate pressure. The primary goal is relaxation — calming the nervous system, improving circulation, and creating an overall sense of wellbeing. It lowers cortisol levels and promotes the release of serotonin and dopamine.

What Is Deep Tissue Massage?

Deep tissue massage uses focused, deliberate pressure to target the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It's particularly effective for chronic muscle tension, recovery from injury, postural problems, lower back pain, and sports-related soreness.

Which One Should You Choose?

If you're new to massage or want to relax — start with Swedish. If you have specific areas of chronic tension or are recovering from physical strain — deep tissue is likely to deliver better results. Many of our clients enjoy a combination: Swedish-style warm-up followed by targeted deep tissue work on specific areas.
